Alabama "BuildVention"
Ms. Georgia (in the center) is an elderly woman who has lived her entire life in Hale County in the same home. Shortly after her home was devastated by Hurricane Katrina, HERO attempted to find a subsidized program to assist in the repair of her house, but the damage was too extensive. She is living in a home with dirt floors, no running water, and no electricity. With the help of her neighbors, Hero, and Martial Artists from around the country we will build her a home full of love and respect. The new, one bedroom, energy-efficient home will help Georgia save money on utility bulls, therefore enabling her to afford a mortgage. The home's maintenance free design will ensure upkeep remains manageable.
For the average of $1 a day from now until the build-vention we can give this woman what we all take for granted. I humbly ask for any help you can provide to make this a reality.
From April 10th-14th Myself and a few of the Students/Staff from Revolution Martial Fitness will meet up in Greensboro, Alabama with other martial arts schools for a convention like no other in the industry. While we are there we will join up with HERO (http://www.herohousing.org) to take our values we learn in the dojo out into the world to help others.
Each school that attends the event must raise money for building material. All money raised (even if we go beyond $2000) will go towards the building project. Everyone there is volunteering their skills and time. If we all contribute a little it can add up to a lot. Any amount is appreciated!
On top of our project, There will be Martial Arts Training, classes on Environmental Self-Defense, Project Based Leadership Training, Sexual Abuse Prevention/Guidelines, Ethical marketing roundtables, and substantive curriculum design classes. Attendees will hear inspiring talks from Julia "Butterfly" Hill, Pam Dorr, John Bielenberg PROJECT M, and Tom Callos.
This event will prove to be life changing for all involved. We will document the entire journey with photo and video for all to see. I hop you will help us support this amazing project!
