Help Mike Replace His Wheelchair.

Donation protected
Mike Worm is a very talented friend who recently moved to Houston to pursue his career in comedy.  During the flooding on Saturday, August 26, he found himself in a flash flood zone and barely survived.  His car was immersed in water that came up to his chest, and had it not been for a rescue truck that pushed his vehicle out of the water, he would certainly have drowned.

The most remarkable part of this story is that Mike is a quadriplegic, having suffered a cervical spine injury as a teenager.  Prior to his injury, Mike was a top-tier athlete, being scouted for college athletics in multiple sports. He's also a musician and a performer.

Mike did not lose hope after his accident, and instead dedicated his life to others, using his situation to inspire others as a motivational speaker, and make people laugh, as a sit-down comedian.  He has his own comedy tour, right now, "Walking is Overrated", and also works as a driver for a ride-sharing company.

Mike depends entirely on his wheelchair for mobility. Unfortunately, when his car was caught in the flash flood, his wheelchair was ruined and is no longer functional.  He must get a new wheelchair right away, and has a copay of about $4000 (if Medicare will cover one at this time).  In addition, Mike had secured employment only days before the hurricane hit Houston, and has little money to make it through the recovery period, all while being displaced from his home.  I'm asking for $8,000, total, to help Mike get a new wheelchair, clothing, interim medical supplies, and help him cover living expenses.  Mike will also need a way back to work when the floods clear, while he's waiting for whatever insurance will cover on his automobile.  Since he used his car for additional income, this is an especially difficult situation.

Every little bit helps.  Thank you, for helping this strong, hard working and inspirational young man.
