So, after 47 orthopedic procedures that included 2 total knee replacements, 1 elbow replacement that went bad (I no longer have a right elbow) and 16 spinal fusions, it finally happened. When I had my 16th spinal fusion in August 2016, the surgery was a technical success (I survived) but I am now paralyzed from the waist down. Due to this paralysis, my husband and I had to come up with a unique way to transfer me from my wheelchair to our car and vice versa. It is a difficult process that is getting more of an issue as time goes by. It is such an issue that I never leave the house except to go to the Doctor. So, my husband and I started this Go Fund Me campaign in the hopes of raising enough money to purchase an ada conversion van.
With this van, I will be able to pursue a more normal life. I will no longer be uncomfortable with getting out of the house due to the convoluted process of getting in and out of our car.
I can never say enough about the support I have received from all my friends and family. I thank you all for your love and support.
