Update: Magic Mike needs our help again! Due to the amount of pellets still inside his upper body (150+) the large wound on his shoulder has not healed properly and became infected. Surgery is needed to get rid of Mike's pain! HAHSAL needs about $300 to help reimburse some of the vet costs Mike will incur!! Please help Magic Mike!
This pitiful boy was shot at close range with a shotgun ...TWICE!!! The shooting occurred around July 4th, Mike then sat at Fulton County Animal Services in Atlanta for over 2 weeks before animal rescue, Have a Heart Save a Life, heard his story and stepped up to save him. However, the time without vet care took its toll and he desperately needs your help!!
We rushed him to a local Atlanta vet, who says his prognosis is "guarded at best." Mike will have to stay for at least several days in order to be stabilized. (On top of everything else, Mike has developed pnemonia.) His wounds include a huge open hole in his neck(the size of a finger) His leg has over 150 pellets and will have to be amputated once the pneumonia clears. Sadly, there is no way to take the pellets out individually without damaging the leg. He either has a collapsed lung or birdshot pellets in his lung. His "good leg" is twice the size it should be, which is a separate concern. The wounds in his jaw are making it too painful to eat so he is quickly becoming emaciated. He also needs to be neutered and who knows what else! Needless to say, the vet bills to save him will be extensive.
