Hilde is part of Furever Dachshund Rescue's
family. You may remember when she was available for adoption a few months ago.
Her story touched the hearts of many because she was rescued from a severe
abuse situation. Hilde has been tossed into the family pool repeatedly by her
collar, left crated for most of the hours of each day, and left malnourished
and emaciated. Poor Hilde came into our rescue with large patches of missing
fur, severely under-weight, tail broken in two different places, and multiple
scars on her body. Today her fur has regrown and she has regained the weight
and her family has given her the love and care and security she needed to mend
her broken heart. Hilde's mom is an active volunteer with FDR and has
contributed so much of her time helping to save dachshunds in need.
Hilde went down in the back a week ago and has been crate rested and medicated to see if she could recover. Unfortunately Hilde has taken a turn for the worse and has lost the ability to control when she needs to potty. Alivia reached out to FDR for help and we decided to take Hilde for a consult at Ocean State Veterinarian Specialists where they highly recommended surgery based on her limited ability to use her hind legs. Her decline over the past week has proven that crate rest is no longer an option and Alivia is a young dachshund owner that does not have all the funds to pay for Hilde's surgery. The Board of Directors has decided that it is our responsibility to help raise funds for Hilde's care because it's more than likely that her previous abusive situation was a contributor to her current diagnosis.
We know that Alivia and her family have the best home for Hilde and they are dedicated to rehabilitating her and giving her everything she needs to heal from the surgery. Hilde adores her furever family and all of us here at FDR adore Alivia and all she has done to help so many dachshunds. Right now we need your help to raise these funds. No amount is too small and anything you can give would be greatly appreciated. Hilde deserves this second chance after all the abuse and pain she has endured. Please help Hilde get to a better and pain-free place!~
