Hank had his surgery in May of 2014 and the medical bills were over $4000. We are hoping to help raise some money to offset his medical expenses.
Hank is my Service Dog. He has been a part of our family since January of 2013 and began his service dog training in December of 2013.
I have a form of muscular dystrophy called FSHD and have problems walking without assistance. Hank is my helper. He is with me 24/7/ He goes to work with me, he travles by car, plane and train. He is my support.
Hank helps me with balance and walking. Without him at my side I must depend on a scooter, walker or wheelchair.
He has been learning to help me pick things up off of the floor and call for help when I fall.
Hank somehow ruptured his crucat ligament and the vet said he needed immediate surgery. He was in a lot of pain and could barely walk. They recommended a specisl surgery (TPLO) which requires cutting the tibia bone and placing it biack to allow the knee to have a different angle. http://csu-cvmbs.colostate.edu/Documents/orthopaedics-cruciate-ligament.pdf
We had no choice, Hank needed this surgery and it was not cheap. The cost of the surgery alone was $3,200. We also had a lot of other bills, like xrays, medication and after care.
He has had the surgery and has now healed. He just underwent another month of advanced training to help him learn how to continue to assist me without causing himself injury.
The doctor said prognosis is good, his hips are good, so we have no worry there for future issues.
Not only is Hank my helper. He is my baby. My 100# baby.
I am hoping that each of my friends can help just a bit, or pass this on for others to help.
