Help Hank keep fighting cancer

Our rescue dog Hank, was diagnosed with Mast Cell Tumor cancer (MCT) in November 2018. 

We had the tumor removed, which was on his scrotum and our vet was confident that she was able to get clean margins. Unfortunately the biopsy results came back as the highest grade of MCT. High grade MCT's (grade 3), have a 50-90% chance of spreading...

Four months later, we woke up to Hank's stomach being super red and swollen. We immediately took him to the vet. After a fine needle aspiration test, it was confirmed that the cancer has now spread to his lymph notes in between his legs. We were devastated as our regular vet didn't think that surgery would be an option at this point.

We were then referred to oncology at Canada West. After doing further testing, to see how far along the cancer has spread. We all decided that chemo would be the best course of treatment for him. Even though Hank was a candidate for surgery, the oncologist was very honest with us and said that surgery is not a cure. It would maybe only give us another 9-12 months and that's only if the cancer didn't end up spreading elsewhere in his body. 

We started off on a less aggressive chemo called Chlorambucil, which we were on for about a month. It didn't work. Hank's tumor went from the size of a small mandarin to the size of a large grapefruit in the span of just a few weeks. So we made the decision to try the more aggressive chemo called Palladia.

Hank has now been on Palladia for about 2 months and it has shrunk the tumor significantly! Despite some side effects, Hank has been such a trooper thru all of this. The chemo will help keep him comfortable and slow down the progression of the cancer.

We unfortunately don't have insurance for Hank and the bills are really starting to add up. His treatment alone is costing us $1500 every 6 weeks. He will have to be on chemo indefinitely or until it stops working. Hank is a fighter, please help us keep fighting with him. Anything helps, thank you so much!! ❤️
