Help 2014 B.A. Graduate Study Abroad

 I am a 56 year old 2014 UC Berkeley graduate who was accepted into a Summer Study Abroad program. The university denied funding for my trip four weeks before the program starts. This is an opportunity of my lifetime! This trip would mean the world to me, and I will share my experience while abroad and when I return.

 I just graduated from U.C Berkeley with my bachelors degree in May 2014. I returned to school after thirty years and actually did it!  Now I have an opportunity to study abroad in Spain and immerse myself into what I studied for the last three years. My interests are African Diaspora (where black people live all over the world), Ethnic Studies, Chicano Studies and Migration theory, history and culture.  This study abroad class will cover all of these areas and more.  I will learn from my UC Berkeley professor and professors throughout Europe.  I will visit the local immigrant communities and learn from the people about life, education, politics for the diverse immigrant population in Spain.

I love to study global history and culture,  and I finally found my passion in my fifties. I plan to learn everything I can about migration history and culture when I am in Spain. I will bring this information back to America to inform, teach, engage, and empower.
