Help Dan and Mel Adopt a Baby

The first time we were caught up in one of the largest adoption scams in US history (the people involved are now in federal prison.) Too long and painful of a story to rehash here in detail. It included months of effort a cross country drive, weeks in hotels and nothing but pain to show for it. We would be happy to share on a phone call. This cost us more than $50,000 in direct and indirect losses and more emotional baggage than you can imagine.
The second time almost worked. We were there for the birth. Mel was in the room and the birth mom handed her the child we thought would be our daughter. After we cared for the baby in the hospital for two days, a hospital social worker called child protective services after mistakenly thinking that we did not have adoption paperwork. They told CPS the birth mother was a "Mexican illegal immigrant" and that we were using unlicensed attorneys to become child traffickers. IT WAS INSANITY.
Even though we were able to prove this was all false within hours, the wheels of the machine required us to spend three months in court trying to get our baby back. At the same time we were caring for our baby's 2-year old brother while the his mother recovered from post partum depression. After three months we were told we could keep caring for the 2-year old, but our baby would be raised by the "emergency" foster care parents with whom she was placed she was taken from us. Although we loved her brother, we made the incredibly painful, but correct, decision to have the him raised with his sister, who would now never become our daughter. That was more than a year ago, we have not had the funds needed to start over after the additional $$$$ losses associated with this second attempt.
We are now reaching out to you. We have reference letters from more than 50 people who believe we will make great parents. We love being Aunt and Uncle to tons of kids, but believe our love can best be shared by raising a child of our own.
