Help Charlie & Julie

Our Dad is the strongest, bravest, smartest and caring person. He has always done so much for our family and always put us first. He was living the American Dream, working his way up the career ladder within his company, coaching softball and baseball teams, as well as guiding us through our childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood. Loyal husband of 32 years, father of 3, and grandfather to one, he is still a hero to us all. Working in a warehouse right out of high school to raise his young family, our father did not have the opportunity to continue his education. As a dedicated worker, he began to take on administrative roles, and later on managing all imports and export operations for his company. At the age of 38, he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Early on, he received weekly treatment, but has limited his care to daily medicine for the aches and pain and moderate exercise. When his company became aware of his disability, they purchased a golf cart for easier accessibility around the warehouse. At 40 years old, he underwent an emergency triple bi-pass. Again, his company provided him with the accommodations he needed to continue to work and be an asset to the company. His company treated him well for 31 years, and he put in tremendous effort in making this company successful. Two years ago, a new administration had taken the reigns, and the company began to downsize. Without any notice, he was laid off. The house our family calls home will be put up for sale. Without a college degree, limited work capabilities due to physical limitations, work has been very hard to come by. His unemployment benefits has expired, the government assistance is no longer available, and he has been denied disability, which is currently in the appeal process. It was heartbreaking to watch our Dad fight back tears when informing us about the urgency to sell. Due to refinancing several times to help pay for 3 sets of braces and expensive orthodontic work, helping his 3 children make their way to college has left them with a mortgage that is too high a cost for them to keep. Our home, will now be put up for sale. Our mother works part time to help try to make ends meet, but due to underemployment and unemployment, both of our parents are going to be taken away from the home in which they built their American Dream. It was difficult for us to write this, however, we are at a loss here. We want our home to remain our home, and let it be our parent's decision to sell when they wish, not forced to sell.
