Help Abenaki Vet Get on his Feet

Donation protected
Brent Reader is a great Vermonter, dedicated public servant, and wonderful human being. He and his wife Misty have raised their four daughters on the land in Highgate Springs that has been in their family for hundreds of years. Over the past year and a half, Brent has experienced a devastating string of setbacks, including uncompensated health complications from his service in the Iraq War, surgery that required extensive recovery time, and the loss of his social work job due to the surgery recovery.

Brent and Misty have spent the last of their resources saving their home from foreclosure, but they are now struggling to meet their basic needs and get back on their feet. We want to help them with an emergency fund to keep their lights on and to start a legal fund for Brent to appeal his loss of veterans' disability benefits.  In addition to being a veteran, he is one of the last speakers of Western Abenaki, a UVM-trained social worker, and a Truman Scholar. We cannot let this happen to a man and a family that have given so much to their community. They need us now. Please do what you can to help.
