Our little sister Heidi was diagnosed with brain cancer 5 years ago. Heidi has maintained her sense of humor (for example asking for pictures of her brain during her first surgery), perseverance, and faith throughout her journey. She was first diagnosed while back in school to become a teacher and has since realized that dream.
With the recent news that her tumor has regrown - she will need surgery and chemo again - she continues to laugh and praise albeit with added stress.
In order to keep continuity of care and to access doctors who specialize in her situation, she will have to go out of network for her surgery. This means that her costs will be $3,500 more than expected. Additionally she has a new teaching job, but her current job's insurance stops before new insurance kicks in. Therefore she will have to go on COBRA in the interim.
In honor of #ThankATeacher week we are starting this campaign to help her with these costs. Any money raised will go to cover her surgery and COBRA insurance premiums.
Thank you for your support of our sister.
