A little more than 11 years ago a girl named Victoria Orellana came to this world not knowing the struggles, and sacrifices she would have to make in her lifetime. In the few years of her life, she has had 4 open-heart operations, several cardiac catheterizations, and a tumor in her head. After months in the hospital, days without sleep and many tears, we can honestly say God has heard our prayers and after months of waiting we have finally been accepted and Victoria FINALLY HAS A NEW HEART! Yes! We have a second chance for Victoria!
Victoria was born with a congenital birth defect, her diagnosis is Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) with Mitral Valve Atresia and Aortic Stenosis; basically, she has half of her heart. That's right, as hard as it may be to believe and because she looks well most of the time, always with a smile on her face, affectionate and more than anything with a desire to live, some will never think this is happening inside of her. She has taught all of us, how to fight and how the desire to live is stronger than any pain.
Her new heart has arrived! We decided to open a foundation to help Victoria with her operations and treatments to come, but we also did it to help more families like ours cope with the many struggles a condition such as hers can bring to the ones who surround and care for children like Victoria. The Hearts for Victoria Foundation can only achieve its goals with the assistance of generous donations from members of our community. Without these donations, serving those in our area would not be possible.
