Audree Gets Help

Audree’s health issues are deeper than the skin. Audree has a severe case of demodex mange, a secondary bacterial infection, and anemia. She also has entropy in both eyes and a heart murmur. The vet believes there may be an underlying cause for the extreme mange reaction, swelling and inflammation, and "weeping" on her skin. Audree has been experiencing intense diarrhea for the past few days so a prescription diet has been started.  We will continue our mange protocol of baths, essential oil massages, and ivermectin, continue to cover her in loose-fitting, cotton clothing so her worst areas can breathe and the fluid can drain. There are also added broad spectrum antibiotics and a medicine to slow down the diarrhea. Foster mom will also be limiting her physical activity for the foreseeable future and administering Benadryl at night for comfort and rest. She will be a long-term foster on medical hold.  Audree does show signs of feeling comfortable and almost happy: A wagging tail - Even at the vet, Following foster mom around, Very tolerant of handling, and,  Even initiated play for a second with fellow foster pup Gemma.
