Heal Missy! (Torn Achillies)

Donation protected

On May 4th at Arapahoe Basin "Missy" a 3yr old German Shepard Mix was the victim of a collision with one of the most disrespectful skiers you could meet, Missy was apart of the Auraria Ski and Ride Club for all colleges on the Auraria campus in Denver that were hosting a Beach party on the Beach at A-Basin. While chasing a Frisbee next to the Palli lift a speeding skier made the choice of running directly into Missy, he had many options and wide open space not to collide with her but instead he turned his skies into her back paws and ruptured both her back Achilles tendons. The man did not hesitate to stop or apologize, later the man came down the mountain and decided to start his conversation by saying "You have a problem?" to another group to which he thought Missy belonged to, when we confronted him about the incident stating that Missy belonged to our group and that we were rushing her to the vet due to her severe injury and loosing mass amounts of blood he did not condone a apology yet alone take responsibility for his actions.

Unfortunately ski patrol could not do anything because of a sign posted saying "Dogs must be on leash", Missy was one of several dogs chasing Frisbees and playing on the beach. Arapahoe Basin is a extremely dog friendly environment and this is truly a unfortunate accident to happen, during the accident Missy's owner Matt Simpson a true die hard skier that loves his dog more than anything was hiking staircase and had no clue of what happened to his dog, He was shocked to hear what happened and rushed her to the vet to find that both Achillies tendons in her back legs were ruptured in the accident and the cost would be anywhere from 4-6 thousand dollars. We have started a donation website at gofundme.com for Missy to help Matt pay for the surgery.

Matt has been ecstatic on how many people have shown support for Missy saying "You guys don't know how much I appreciate this. I would be completely lost with out this donation page"

Missy just celebrated her 3rd birthday Sunday May, 5th bandaged and getting ready for surgery. Matt and Missy are a true couple, she never leaves his side and listens to every word, you could see the emotions from Matt's friends of how scared they were because they knew how special Missy is to Matt.

We at ASR hope that you can help us show support for Matt and Missy by sharing their story and hopefully we can gain the support of fellow skiers and dog lovers.

Missy is a gently kind dog, she listens to every command from owner to stanger. Missy loves hiking, Frisbee, and swimming. We hope we can get her healed before summer is through so she can enjoy more of her life.

Missy's fund can be found at WWW.GoFundMe.com/HealMissy
ASR will also be taking donations at Arapahoe Basin Saturday in exchange for a Ski/Board wax.

We thank you so much for you time
