On Jan. 20th, Mary was injured at work. Her head and torso had been pulled into the rollers and conveyor belt of a machine she was assigned to. When co-workers were finally able to cut her out, she was blue from lack of oxygen and had no pulse. According to those at the scene, they believed she was dead. She was life-flighted to Vanderbilt Hospital and classified as a crush victim with Level 1 head trauma. She suffered a concussion, small brain bleed, burns to her face, back and left arm, a portion of her hair ripped out and other injuries. Next week she starts the first of many surgeries to begin the process of skin grafting her face, ear and arm. She is working on gaining back the mobility of her arm and is suffering from short-term memory. Mary is a single mother with two young sons. Because of her short term memory issue and taking seizure and pain medications she is unable to care for them and are with family. She has not been able to see them since the accident. Mary's medical bills are covered by worker's comp, but there are other financial burdens she still has to cover. Many have asked what they can do to help and so her family have started this fund to help her in anyway with the financial situation she now finds herself in. Mary's survival of this horrific incident is truly a miracle and has changed her life forever. We appreciate all the thoughts and prayers from family, friends and strangers who have reached out to her.
