To anyone who knows a chef and to anyone who loved one. I went to school with Hayley and John, starting our cooking careers at good ol' Gunnedah's KFC in Australia a life time ago as kids. Hayley chef career exploded and she went on to travel the world and work with Jamie Oliver. She was set to return to the UK when she was hit by the 1st surprise diagnosis. As a result she stayed in Oz to fight the disease. She opened up the Organic Cafe "Sister" in memory of her sister Ricki who had her own battle and died of breast cancer. Unbeknown to most Hayley was fighting cancer at the very same time and is now up to her 10th year of the battle.

I have set up this donation page in the hope of giving Hayley, John and Olive some financial breathing room.We at Hayley's Hope are a group of 1296 strong, with the intention of taking back all those moments missed during those hours of chemo for Hayley, John and miss Olive. All those hours that then rolled into days, then days into weeks over the past ten years. Moments missed due to the ferrying from one appointment to the next. Moments missed because of the days when you can barley lift your head from the pillow. All those moments taken from Hayley is the goal we have now set, the goal to give some of that time back.
So as friends of Hayley, John and little miss Olive we ask that you consider the value of a single working hour in your life of any given day and what that time is worth to you.... then pass the value of that time over to Hayley's Hope in the form of a pledge. An hour of work is different for us all, to some it's $10 while others it is $100. You know your hourly rate,and if an hour you can not afford, than 15 minutes will do. No amount is too small, because every minute counts.
The Goals: $20K given by 3652 individuals.
So hows this all work? We have set two primary goals, a financial one of $20K and a donor goal to reach 3652 individual donors. Each donor will count for one of the 3652 days that make a decade, and each pledge will be counted as a day that we will have taken back. As the days of donations combine into months and then years we will be clawing back those moments lost to illness. Now you can simply pledge an amount or you can pledge towards the "Wish List" of some of those special moments missed. Your donation will travel via "Hayley's Hope Friend's" Paypal account of Warrick Dowsett (aka Wozz Knot) then directly onto Hayley, John & Olive.
What does this mean? Well it means that if all 1296 of us @ Hayley's Hope pledge, we will only have taken back just under 3 and a half years..... still a long way from a decade. You are already pledging and that's great, but what we need is for you to get one of your friends on board, asking them to encourage one of their friends again. Stretching the story of Hayley, John and miss Olive to complete strangers. We as a group can not reach a decade with just a thousand of us, we need the help of others if we are serious about taking back those ten years of lost moments. With 3652 pledges our primary goal will be achieved by each of us only donating $5.00
How will donations be spent? The money will be spent putting the past behind them, carving out a future and giving some reserves for any unforeseen hiccups to come. If the money is spent on organic kale smoothies, fuel for the car or this months rent is of no concern to us. Our job is to give enough breathing room around those hours in bed and chemo, so that they can be reborn as minutes strolling down a beach at sunset. Hours taken back to be wonderfully wasted in thick grass counting clouds on the first warm day of spring. Hours lost exchanged for cuddles, giggles and bed time stories. Hours stolen to be reused as summer BBQ's and drinks with friends. There is no end to what can be achieved in a single hour. If enough of us give them up.
Amazing that an hour in our lives can change an entire day for someone else. The donation of one working hour to Hayley's Hope will give this family the chance to relive all the moments missed, moments that we take for granted. Giving them the chance to cash in all those days of sacrifice.... and help them take back time lost. As friends and strangers, we no longer need to sit idle and take this kind of nonsense from an illness anymore.
It is only as a unit, a single driving force. Step by step, one day at a time.... we can and will take back the decade.
