A Little Bit About Hayden:
Hayden Sampogna is a 6-year-old boy who loves his family (Mom, Tanya, a physical therapist for Autistic children, Dad, Tom, a teacher, and little brother Austin, resident stunt-man and batman stand-in), playing outside, and building, fixing and “working” on things. He can talk all day about trucks and tools and will stick with any job until it’s done. He has the biggest smile, the cutest laugh and can tell imaginative stories of all kinds. He is sweet, kind, active and silly…and he was just diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, an aggressive type of bone cancer.
Hayden's Journey:
It started with a limp in June and was confirmed the day after his 6th birthday on July 16th. Hayden is now in his first cycle of chemotherapy and has a long and arduous journey ahead, including major surgery and eight more 5-week cycles of chemotherapy. Needless to say, he and his family are scared and struggling. They are trying to figure out how to give Hayden all that he needs; including having his Mom with him during chemotherapy sessions at Sloan Kettering and receiving state of the art limb salvaging surgery in St Petersburg Florida next month. All the while his family still strives to retain some sense of a normal childhood for both he and his three year old brother. While we are all surrounding them with love, support and prayers, we also need your help to lift some of the burden from this young family.
Our Goal:
We are trying to raise $20,000.00 to cover his Mom’s lost salary this year so she can be with him during chemotherapy days, travel expenses to Florida for surgery, and medical expenses not covered by insurance. Please also pray hard for our “Little Man”! He will need all of Team Hayden to fight with him in the months ahead.
