Harvard Secondary School Program

My name is Tyona Golden, I am an 11th grader at Morgan Park High School. I am a member of New Birth Church of God in Christ, where my Pastor is Elder Willard L Payton. I was recently accepted to participate in Harvard's Secondary School Program. The objective of the program is to experience real Harvard courses, studying alongside college students at Harvard's campus.  During this 8-week experience I will explore subjects not available at my high school, earn college credit, learn from distinguished faculty and use the largest university library system in the world. I will also be interacting with other students from different ethnic backgrounds and parts of the world.

I am currently seeking financial sponsors to help me with tuition, and I hope I can count on your support. In case you haven't heard of the Harvard Secondary School Program, please allow me to share some information with you. The Harvard Summer School makes Harvard's academic resources"”a distinguished faculty, well-equipped laboratories, fine museums, and a world-class university library"”available to men and women of many ages, backgrounds, and nationalities through an intensive summer session of liberal arts courses in Cambridge and overseas.

Harvard Secondary School international student body includes undergraduate and graduate students, teachers, visitors from other colleges and universities, highly qualified secondary school students, adult learners, and nonnative English speakers seeking to refine their language skills. Students take summer courses to challenge themselves academically, meet degree requirements, prepare for graduate school, gain college experience, advance their careers, and pursue personal enrichment.

The cost is $10,370, which includes tuition for two 4-credit courses, room and board, accommodations, meals and educational activities. I am asking contributors to donate to help me reach my goal. Is it possible for you to assist me by making a contribution? Any amount would be greatly appreciated. I will submit a brief letter and photographs of my experiences to each of my contributors upon my return.
