Help Launch Hashtag Skilled!

Did you know one-in-ten adults say it’d be difficult for them to find available jobs online, fill out online job applications or even use email to contact a potential employer? While digital skills are second nature for many adults today, there are still people who need help navigating their way through important technologies that are vital to economic advancement. The digital divide describes the disparities between people who have the opportunities and skills enabling them to benefit from digital resources and those who don’t have the opportunities or skills. As you know, career-related digital skills are extremely important. Just think, when is the last time you didn’t use the Internet to job hunt?

As someone who’s worked in nonprofits and community spaces, I’ve witnessed the divide between adults with little-to-no knowledge of and experience with digital technologies and those privileged enough to use these technologies with ease. As a digital marketer and former multimedia instructor, I knew I could be the person to address these digital inequalities--so I started Hashtag Skilled.

Hashtag Skilled works to close this knowledge gap by providing affordable digital literacy workshops to vulnerable adults. Unlike online courses, Hashtag Skilled’s workshops are in-person and accessible through organizations these adults are already connected to, such as libraries, women’s shelters and career centers.

I’m excited to make a  meaningful impact through Hashtag Skilled and would love your support to help launch. All money raised* will go towards start-up costs, marketing and advertising, grant/professional development fees and workshop material. Every contribution, no matter how small, gets us closer to a future where every adult is equipped with the skills needed to succeed in today's world.
