Harvey Clemans Art Travel Grant

Donation protected
In memory of Harvey Clemans, gifted artist, respected educator, and world traveler, this award will allow a Southern California artist to travel, in search of inspiration and continuing education.

Harvey was widely traveled and believed that these experiences enriched his artistic life. He traveled through Europe on a six-month sabbatical, was awarded a Fulbright to India, and, as Huntington Beach’s artist of the year (1988/89), was selected to visit Anjo, Japan, Huntington Beach’s sister city. In addition to these more professional trips, he traveled extensively across the United States and, internationally, to many places, including Africa, Russia, and South America.

His beautiful, naturalistic watercolors have been part of many art exhibitions and are in numerous private collections. For over thirty years, Harvey taught very popular courses in drawing and painting at Golden West College. He also served as the coordinator of International Studies for the Orange Coast Community College system.

Harvey passed away June 1, 2014, and he is deeply missed. This fund was established by his loving family in order to honor his creative spirit, his commitment to education, and his desire to draw from, and contribute to, the visual bounty of the world.
