Mercy for Frank&Robin Fuentes

My name is Kelly Harr.  I live in Potterville Michigan.  When Harvey came in it was frustrating listening to the news, watching for text messages or facebook posts to see what was going on and where my mom was at and if she was safe.
When I finally heard from my mother after Harvey hit  and I knew she was safe, the first words out of my mouth were"I need your account information to set up a gofundme page!"  Her next words were "Not for me!  We have insurance.  You need to make it for my neighbors!  They lost everything too and had NONE!"

So now I'd like to talk to you a little about Frank and Robin Fuentes.  They moved to Dickinson Texas over 10 years ago. They are an animal loving family with 4 great dogs.  Frank and Robin are the people who are always there to help other people in times of need and trouble.  Often the most amazing loving and giving people don't necessarily  consider themselves.  So when Harvey came in they attained the usual supplies of  non perishables, bottled water, sand bags and prepared as best they could and hung in there as most of the folks in their neighborhood felt they would be okay and no evacuation orders were given. Many in the neighborhood have been there far longer. As my mother who moved in a year ago, and the Fuentes family  also had never experienced a hurricane, they followed the lead of the long time residents with hurricane experience.  The problem is, Harvey was much bigger and stronger than anything they'd seen in around 50 yrs or more.  So around 2:30am Sunday morning, as neighbors were starting to have furniture float, they moved to higher ground, if possible.  Cars were destroyed so evacuation seemed hopeless.  The Fuentes family did what they had to do to keep themselves and the 4 furbabies safe.  They went up into their attic.  While my mother got lucky and escaped with her pets into the last driveable truck in the neighborhood, the Fuentes family hunkered down for what turned into a long night.  They watched as water rose in their home destroying everything.  The clock ticked and ticked until their concern became not for their things but for their lives.  They were finally rescued after 12 hours huddled in their attic. They are safely being housed along with my mother and step dad and all their pets together by a wonderful  fellow Texan at higher dry ground.

Thank God for all their safety!  But their journey is a long, and heartwrenching one.  With no insurance they have no idea how they will replace their car, their home, their furniture, their clothing.  Not to mention all the things we all have like the photos that cannot be replaced.  When I told my mother what I needed to make this page, she wasn't sure they'd even say okay to it when she asked.  They are all blessed to be alive and safe and well.   Lets be a further blessing to them and show them that it is absolutely okay to be on the receiving end.  Lets at least help them to their feet buy donating so that they maybe able to get a car to get around and figure out the rest of the mess.  God willing we can even raise enough $ to get their home repair underway.  A little bit can go a long way. Let us come together the way that the citizens of Texas are coming together.  We may not be close enough to rescue their bodies but we can help uplift them and rescue their spirits helping them to be able to handle the rest.  If you cannot give financially to this cause, you might just be doing even more to share it to evevryone you know, and add them to your prayers.

God bless the Fuentes family, and God bless everyone who helps in any way.
