We have friends Shawn & Erin Stasiuk who moved from Calgary Alberta Canada to Houston for work and their home at 11606 Cypress Wood Place Drive was flooded. Luckily they and their 3 young daughters were out of town when the incident occurred. They lost everything on their first floor due to the rising waters and had water damage on their second floor due to driving rain. These are good people and we want to do whatever we can to help them out.
Here is a photo of the neighborhood during the flood.
Their house is currently gutted and the family is living at a co-workers house until they can put their home back together. The damage estimate for their home is in the $100,000 range. Shawn's employer is contributing $2,500 towards repairing their home damage. FEMA disaster relief grants will amount to no more than $33,000. That leaves a huge gap which can only be covered by long-term loans.

My wife and I started this Go Fund Me account to primarily assist the Stasiuk family and then many others in our own area who have also flooded. We have many friends who's entire neighborhoods have been destroyed. Our intention is to use 100% of the money to fund repairs that FEMA and insurance doesn't cover. In all of these homes the carpet, hardwoods. drywall, cabinets, appliances, and doors will all be destroyed.

We will publish a spreadsheet with detail on who the funds went to and for what purpose. We will be paying contractors and purchasing supplies directly rather than just doling out cash so that we can document expenditures with receipts.
This is the first time that we've been moved enough by an event to do something like this. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
