Devonte Hart: Missing Persons Investigation

Donation protected
6 Black children were adopted from Texas. On March 26, 2018 it was discovered that the two adoptive mothers, Jennifer and Sarah Hart, had driven their SUV off a cliff in Mendocino County, California, killing themselves and 4 of their 6 adopted children: Markis, Abigail and Jeremiah. Ciara’s remains were found on the shore weeks later. On 01-08-2019, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office reported that additional DNA test results confirmed a positive identification of the partial remains found on 05-09-2018 as belonging to Hannah Hart. To date, Devonte remains missing and the search for him continues. No evidence thus far presented confirms whether Devonte was in the vehicle at the time of the crash. From the family's Woodland, WA home,  both Devonte & Hannah had recently reached out to a neighbor seeking help; for food, and for protection from abuse. Hannah also told the neighbors the Hart women were racists. In the aftermath of the fatality, documents emerged from various child protective agencies in different states, which detail the abuses endured by the children. They cite years of suspicions and occurrences of physical abuse, psychological punishment and food deprivation. Despite existing reports of abuse involving the first set of siblings (Markis, Hannah, and Abigail), the Hart's were nevertheless allowed to adopt a second set of siblings (Devonte, Jeremiah, and Ciara). This last time, the reports of abuse came from the children themselves. In response to Hannah's fearful pleas for help, followed by Devonte repeatedly asking for food, neighbors notified authorities. On Friday, March 23rd, 2018 CPS arrived at the Hart residence to check on the welfare of the children. Although neighbors had recently observed Jen Hart pulling into the driveway of the home, the door went unanswered. When CPS returned to the home on Monday, March 26th, it was too late.  That same day a tourist spotted the Hart family's SUV at the bottom of a 100ft cliff along the California coastline. Law enforcement revealed Jennifer Hart was the driver of the SUV, and toxicology revealed she was legally intoxicated. Toxicology also showed several of the children along with Sarah Hart had diphenhydramine in their systems. Law enforcement officials have concluded the crash was not accidental.

This fund was initially set up to support the investigation performed by Lauth Investigations International, Inc., into the Hart Kids case to determine the whereabouts and fate of Devonte and Hannah.  Sadly Hannah's fate has been revealed. The hope  for this investigation is to compel momentum for a full search for Devonte, and to direct focus to the network of  systemic failures across a continuum, so that other vulnerable children may be spared similar fates. Without accountability, that can not be achieved. No donation is too small to make an impact.  RIP Markis, Jeremiah, Abigail, & Ciara Rose and Hannah.
