Leah Hansen ..."STRONG LIKE A GIRL"

Donation protected

Welcome to the fundraising website/go fund me page for Ms. Leah Hansen who is "Strong like a girl"!!! Leah is one of Long Hill Township New Jerseys beloved 3rd grade softball players, along with her many other talents.   As her coach and friend, I am dedicating this page to one of the most determined, tenacious, driven "strong like a girl" nine year olds I know who also happens to share a tremendous passion for playing softball with me :)! Please join me, Leah's softball family, and my entire Long Hill Township NJ community in rooting on Leah as she battles to recover/rehab from a spinal stroke.

In early March 2018, Leah became inexplicably paralyzed from the neck down and has been hospitalized on a ventilator.   After a lot of testing, they have decided they believe Leah may be one of the rare few pediatric patients who has suffered a spinal stroke.  Leah continues to improve everyday and she is fighting harder then she ever has before to regain movement in her limbs and breathe on her own. GO LEAH GO!

We all want to show Leah how much we love and support her as we start up another baseball/softball season.  As she continues in her recovery process we expect Leah and her family to have many needs.  As a community it would be awesome to be able to help them out as much as we can.

Leah and her family have been extremely active in our baseball/softball community with their 4 children, Leah being the eldest (just turning 9 on March 15, 2018).  Leah has played softball all her school years pretty much all year round becoming one of the softball superstars of her town program.  Her Father, Peter Hansen has coached throughout Leahs softball career, not only helping her, but many other kids in the program.  He volunteers his time and loves every minute of it!  Both Peter and Leah have been a dynamic duo, who anyone in town will tell you, light up the softball field.  Truly inspiring to watch.  The Hansens are a wonderful family and I would love to show them how much love we all have for them.

With that in mind, we would like to start off the fundraising process with a softball scrimmage in Leah's honor.  Tim Simo (a Long hill resident, town recreation baseball and softball coach and the varsity softball coach for Summit High school) was kind enough to coordinate a scrimmage with his Summit Varsity High school softball team and Watchung Hills Varsity softball team where we can kick off our fundraising scheduled for Wednesday March 28, 2018 at 3:30 at Diamond Nation 129 River Road in Flemington, NJ 08822. It will be a great way to to show support, raise money for the Hansen family and have fun simultaneously!

Tee shirts have been designed and made by one of Leahs coaches for all Leah's family, friends and  teammates to wear that display one of Leah's favorite sayings on the front "Strong like a girl" and her name and softball number on the back "Hansen #1".  All Leah supporters will wear these shirts while encouraging people to donate to her cause, all while watching two rocking softball teams play in Leah's honor.   Tee shirts will be offered for purchase at the event and all proceeds will go directly to the Leah Hansen fund.

Please consider donating to Leah Hansen and the Hansen family for Leah's recovery needs.   I would love to show Leah and her family how much we support them and watch little Leah keep fighting her battle the only way she knows how... "STRONG LIKE A GIRL!"
