Dear all...
As many of you know, the trial into the horrific murder of our beautiful Hannah will begin in July this year. As a family we are extremely keen to travel out to Thailand to represent Hannah and to, hopefully, see justice done. The trial is scheduled to run on for many months so we hope to go out on 2 occassions- at the beginning of the trial and again at the end to witness the verdict. We are a family of 5 so the cost of flights and accommodation alone are going to be steep. In addition to these costs, we have been advised to hire an interpreter for the entire trial process as the proceedings will be conducted in the Thai language- an interpreter is the only way we can stay connected to the process and know what is going on, rather than having to hear about it in the World's media...
We are very fortunate that a charity have offered to provide us with some financial support. However, even with their contribution, we estimate that the costs will likely amount to between ten and twelve thousand pounds.
In the first instance I considered doing some car boot sales, and I approached my closest friends to see if they had any spare things that they didn't need which I could potentially sell... since this point, the word has spread that we are desperately trying to raise funds in order to get out to Thailand for the trial and we have been overwhelmed by the incredible response from people wanting to help. Many have privately messaged me about hosting bake-offs, quiz nights, table top sales and even triathalons. We are incredibly grateful for the amazing, selfless, kind offers from those around us- including strangers in some instances. However, every person who has contacted me has asked the same question- where can they donate their potential proceeds? At first I found this question tricky to satisfy but, in recent days, a good friend contacted me and directed me to this website.
So, here it is- a page where any funds from various activities can be sent, or where people can leave donations if they so wish. Our goal is ambitious, but it is a very real example of what this trip will amount to... here goes...
