My boy, Hank the cat, just had a lump discovered in his stomach and already the costs for the required tests, such as yesterday's X-rays, blood work panels and cortisone shot, are skyrocketing quickly, while we add today's ultrasound to that list this afternoon, likely followed by more time at the Vet tomorrow for further review and discussion. He has lost too much weight b/c of the stomach discomfort but is finally eating after his cortisone treatment and very, very soft food from the vet, so it raises our hopes a bit, as he seems stronger today and more energetic.
Right now, the suspected diagnosis is lymphoma (though we will hopefully know more after today's ultrasound test) but they believe treatment can be at least managed for a significant period of time, as the Veterinarians see him as a great candidate for kitty chemo and believe his quality and length of life will be positively impacted.
That much being said, we think we're ultimately looking at a minimum of $8,000 - $10,000 over and above what we can currently afford right now, so we need to raise as much money as we possibly can for his immediate starting of treatment after today's ultrasound results are in. It's not Hank's fault that his "daddy" doesn't have a lot of money, so anything anyone is willing to contribute willl be appreciated more than any words can express.
PLEASE KNOW THAT IN NO WAY WILL HE BE FORCED TO UNDERGO EXTREME TREATMENT OR ANYTHING THAT EXTENDS LIFE WITHOUT HIGH QUALITY. I WILL NEVER LET HIM SUFFER, NO MATTER HOW MUCH IT WOULD HURT TO SAY GOODBYE. HIS BEST INTERESTS AND NEEDS ARE ALL THAT MATTER.
