Haley's European Heritage Trip 2014

Hello, my name is Haley Linnig and I am a freshman at Saguaro High School in Scottsdale Arizona. I am contacting you to ask for your help in reaching a goal. This goal is to get to England, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, and Switzerland this summer, 2014.

Last year I traveled with a wonderful organization known as People to People. I am hoping to travel once again with this group. This group's purpose is to provide youths, like myself, with a greater understanding of the world around them, to learn about other cultures and lifestyles and volunteer our time to those that need it. By doing so, this will break down cultural barriers and open the doors to global awareness. People to People was founded by Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956 and has been taking students all over the globe for over 50 years. Last year in China we helped local farmers harvest persimmon crops and picked tea leaves at a plantation. When I went to China it was an incredible experience that changed my world and the way I think by making me more aware of how different and similar foreign people are.

During my trip I will:

· Ride on an alpine roller coaster
· Trace heroic footsteps along the beaches of Normandy
· Make friends with a German family during a home stay
· Meet with a member of British Parliament
· Go behind the scenes to explore European cathedrals and mysterious castles

· Plant trees or clear a riverbank during an environmental service project
