Haitian Refugee Aquaponics.

Donation protected

My name is Deryl Fisher:

I am a retired American living in the Dominican Republic.

Close to me is a ghetto of Haitians who are basically unemployed. They live in more poverty than most Americans can really understand.

This crowd funding project is to build an aquaponics setup to employ half a dozen or so of these people and also provide fresh food for them to eat. For a few thousand dollars we can build an aquaponics farm that will provide a ton of fresh fish and 5 or more tons of fresh vegetables each month. One starts out with a plastic drum with the so called fingerlings in it and after a month they are moved into a larger tank, and each month put into one a bit larger until at the age of 6 months they should weigh about 2 lbs at which time they are put into a tank in the local market and sold alive. The buyers net them out of th e tank and take them home as fresh as food can be.

Any donation over $50 will have the right to come to the North Coast of the Dominican Republic and more than just seeing where your money is working I will pick you up at the POP airport and take you to where ever you are staying at no charge, this includes returning you to the airport at the end of your stay, no chage. I will also drive you around for one day to see the local sites. These sites have an entry fee, but I will take you to each one. I am not a licensed taxi, but usually charge $45 (2000 pesos) for this tour. We have a cable car which goes up the local mountain. It will cost you almost $10 USD and there is a fort on the beach which was built before 1600, This costs $2.25 to get in. The famous rum distillery tour with free samples is available to tour for about $3.00. For lunch we usually go to the small town of Maimon which is locally famous for their seafood, a good meal will cost only about $10.00 per person.
