·       WHO we are:

We are a group of ten Northeastern Nursing students who will be graduating this May. As a group we truly share the Northeastern University Vision: "To embrace a global perspective and work and learn together in international settings."  As new graduates we will be embarking on a volunteer trip to Milot, Haiti.  Following in the footsteps of Northeastern Nursing graduates (Class of 2010) we will work with two RN volunteers, faculty, and humanitarian workers from around the world to help provide healthcare for the people of Haiti.

·       WHAT We'll Be Doing:

We will be spending 10 days working at Hôpital Sacré Coeur.  While we are there we will be providing support to the nursing staff to enable them to attend seminars on the Neonatal Resuscitation Program and Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics.  We will also be assisting two volunteer teams from the United States in their care for Haitian patients.  In addition, we hope to build upon the partnership created last year between Northeastern Nursing students and Hôpital Sacré Coeur by continuing to provide care and support to this hospital. It is our goal that this trip will continue to pave the way for an ongoing connection between Hôpital Sacré Coeur and Northeastern Nursing graduates.

·       WHERE We're Going:

Hôpital Sacré Coeur is located in Milot, Haiti, 70 miles north of Port Au Prince. This hospital was established in 1986 as an 8-bed hospital with one operating room by the CRUDEM foundation, which stands for Center for RUral DEvelopment in Milot.  Today the hospital has expanded to include 73 inpatient beds, an outpatient clinic, full maternity services, a pediatric ward, and a complete laboratory. Hôpital Sacré Coeur has provided accessible quality health care to Haiti for over 30 years and because of its location, it is one of the few hospitals in the country that was not destroyed by last year's earthquake.  This hospital continues to effectively address the health problems of Haiti by providing access to primary care services, building community partnerships, and self-empowering the people of Haiti through education and work.

·       WHEN We'll Be Going:

We will be traveling to Haiti on May 9th, 2011, only three days after our final graduation from Northeastern University. We cannot imagine a better way to begin our careers.

·       WHY We're Going:

Although over a year has passed since a devastating earthquake struck Haiti, their struggle to rebuild remains far from over. Close to a million residents remain homeless and in addition, the country recently suffered from an outbreak of Cholera.  Reconstruction efforts continue to be stalled due to financial and political constraints.  We hope to help by providing healthcare and education to the residents of Milot.

Thank you so much for your support!! Without you our trip would not be possible!
