In the past 5 years many of you have witnessed my work in Haiti and you know I'm committed. In 2014, I started hosting free career and business training sessions in Port au Prince. Every year I host these workshops post the annual Haiti Tech Summit. Yet after a while, you come to realize that these efforts aren't enough. We need a bigger movement. We need technology and we need to embrace the new digital normal.
So here is my appeal to you. I took a leap of faith and already launched Haiti's 1st National Career Digital Accelerator. Now I need your support to amplify.
WHY CONTRIBUTE***As a contributor, you will be considered a Patron and invited to the digital graduation ceremony at the end of the Digital Career Accelerator Program. $10,000 can fund several interns with a budget of $50 each in stipend money, internet wifi, supplies and administrative costs of the staff to coordinate remote internships.
WHAT WE ALREADY DID***200 Haitian Citizens were selected for the July Haiti Career Accelerator. We matched the campaign dollars to host the program. A selection will move on to remote internships in August. We need your support to continue development training for August.
WHAT IS THE PLAN? Here's our mission broken down based on the questions we received when we announced this multi year program:
***Why this matters?: It's not a secret...unemployment in Haiti has always been a major issue.
***Why now?: With the current global crisis, things are getting worst, and something must be done.
***What's the plan? : Our solution is simple, diversify the career opportunities available to local Haitian citizens by giving them global career training that prepares them for the work of the future, remote internships with companies that have strong brands and transition them to contract paid employment opportunities from employees in Haiti or from anywhere in the world.
***How? We are hosting a 4 week Digital Career Accelerator Program for the month of July. This program is free at no charge to selected participants. Top candidates at the end of July will be able to move forward to the second phase of the program and do remote internships. Internship placements will be at any of our 100+ partner network of local Haitian businesses, diaspora businesses or global corporate partners such as (Google, AWS, etc).
Can we tackle the unemployment crisis in Haiti with digital access to remote jobs? We believe we can!
