Hadassah's Beautiful Smile

Donation protected
Dear Friends of Hadassah,

Any of you that know our little girl, Hadassah knows that she is little affected by her Down Syndrome. She loves life! She is our brave, happy, helpful and warmhearted little 11-year old girl. She loves to smile. She loves to talk. She loves to eat. But all these things are being adversely affected by what is going on in her mouth. Hadassah needs orthodontic care ... immediately. And not just for cosmetic reasons for this is structural in nature. Allow me to explain and ask you to help us give her the care she needs.

Hadassah's permanant teeth have come in and are causing her many problems that are interfering with her ability to do even a simple thing like chewing food! Yesterday, we took Hadassah into the orthodontist to get an idea of what treatment she would need to fix her teeth. For the first time we saw a panorama picture of her teeth. OMG! She needs help! And she needs it NOW. The orthodontist encouraged us to make this an immediate priority"“"“this is a crucial time for her developing teeth, jaw and speech etc.

Because she has such severe problems he said that he wanted to do orthodontics on her in 2 stages. The 1st stage, which would happen immediately, would be to put top braces on for a year. This would straighten out a bunch of problems and make a good foundation for the 2nd stage. The 2nd stage would be a year after that -- which would be full braces. This funding request is ONLY for the 1st Stage of her orthodontic care.

Hadassah is really a trouper! With all of what our family has gone through these past few years, she has wonderful spirits. But she is struggling with this. She has to gum her food because she can't bite (none of her teeth meet together), she has a hard time keeping an overcrowded mouth clean and she wrestles with speech and pronunciation. Her severe bite problems and her small palette, which leaves little room for her tongue to form correct positions, I believe is part of her struggle with stuttering. For a little girl who desperately wants to be loved, accepted, seen and listened to getting her teeth fixed is very important to us. Last night we racked our brains trying to figure out how we could afford them, but we have literally no money to do this. Please help us help her.

Never-the-less, I believe she would go her whole life through with this mess in her mouth and not complain. But she's worth more than that! One of the nicest things my parents ever did for me was to give me braces as a child myself. I really wish I could write my own check to do this for her, but I can't. Maybe Yahovah will provide for us through our community of friends. If you love her smile like we do, please help us do for her what we can not do for her ourselves. More than anyone in our family she deserves this love.

Please know that if we make more than what is needed for Phase 1 we will keep the money for Phase 2.

Thank you for your love and help!
May Yahovah bless you as you have blessed us, shalom!
Rebekah (Hadassah's momma)
