HSE Drama Club Scholarship

Ryan Straut, Purdue Varsity Men's Glee Club Manager and Senior at Purdue, initiated this fundraiser to be able to give back to his high school alma mater. The proceeds will be used for a newly created Hamilton Southeastern High School Drama Club Scholarship for college bound graduating seniors that have been members in the Drama Club for a minimum of two years, have a GPA of 3.0 or above and who are not studying performing arts in college.
Ryan was a member in the Drama Club for three years, performed in eight shows and acquired lifelong skills through the process. Drama Club builds confidence, leadership, character and integrity. These are important traits that defines a person and helps to shape their future.
Ryan wanted to accomplish two things with this scholarship:
1. To honor Mary Armstrong for her dedication as the Drama Club Sponsor. For more than thirty years, she has given her time and energies selflessly and has taught students to work hard and follow their dreams.
2. To celebrate the lessons that these students have learned while in the performing arts. There is not a scholarship available for students that dedicate their time and energy to performing arts in high school but will be studying something else in college, and he wanted to change that.
