JAKE WAS HIT BY A CAR :(
Jake is our baby he is a 6 year old Lab who was sadly hit by a car after clearing a 6ft fence, we are now so scared to let any of our dogs out in the back yard alone to go potty and play. If it was not for a nice lady who stopped and stayed with Jake we are not sure he would be here today.. Jake received 2 broken legs, an open wound fracture to his ankle ( the bone broke through skin) his paw was shattered in 2 places and he had road rash all over him... Jake was rushed to the Baytree animal hospital that evening where they thought they were going to have to amputate his leg. they had scheduled the amputation for the next morning. when jake was brought out of his kennel Dr. Hall noticed Jake was trying to use his leg even though he was in much pain, this prompted her to second guess the amputaion. Jake received another x-ray and she decieded she would try to save his leg seeing how he wanted to use it.. Jake lived at Baytree for over 6 long weeks receiving daily bandage changes, iv fluids, pain meds, laser treatments and weekly x-rays. Jake has come a long way in that time. Jake has finally returned home, where he will continue to heal.. Jake still has a long way to go and will continue to make weekly visits to the vet to insure his leg is healing properly, he will have weekly x-rays done and his open wound will continue to be monitored for infections. His open wound now has scar tissue and some skin growing back over it so you no longer see the bone.. Dr. Hall says that Jake will never have full use of his leg and he will always a limp.
Jake is our family and we love him dearly, he is my 13yr old sons bestfriend and they do everything together. Jake has done so much for our son and given him so much love, even when he is going through something jake is there to support him..
Over the time that Jake has been living at Baytree we have exhuasted our savings and sold everything that we had of value to help our baby, We have contacted Red Rover and Lab life line who both have helped greatly however Jakes vet bills still continue rising and we are struggling to keep up.. Jakes vet bills continue to grow rapidly and we are needing help. We dont like to ask for help and we have always helped as much as we can. But this time we trulyneed as much help as possible s that Jake can continue to receve the care that he is needing..
His vet bills today are over 2000.00 and rising. If you are able to help us we would greatly appreciate it.. Every dollar counts..
Jake is family and family never gets left behind and we will never leave our baby behind. We need him just as much as he needs us. he is the better part of us and we could not imagine life without him.. Please support our baby in hopes to continue getting him the care that he is needing and so richly deserves ....
