Hurricane Maria has brought devastation and destruction to my beloved island of Puerto Rico. Houses have been destroyed, families’ displaced, and entire towns left buried under water. The impact of this storm will be felt on the island for many years to come. This has prompted me, Gustavo Oliver, to take action and travel to Puerto Rico to HELP my Family and my Community.
Maria spared noting in its trail and has left my parents with tremendous amount damage to my parents’ home and property. As of now their home is submerged under 3 feet of water with almost all of their belongings ruined due to the water damage. Adding to the already physically and emotionally challenging struggles that my parents are facing, my father has fallen ill due to his weakened immune system. It saddens me to see my parents under such distress and I just have to find a way to make out to them and help.
I have created this goFund me account to raise money so that I can bring food, water, and other basic necessities needed for my mother, father, and another family of their choice who have been affected by Hurricane Maria. I am also looking for assistance with airfare so I can travel from California to Puerto Rico and help, my parents, and in the cleanup efforts.
With your generous donations, I will physically go to the island, bring supplies, and take action in the cleanup efforts. With my efforts I hope to make a small, but important impact for the community of Puerto Rico.
