People are people. It doesn't matter where we're born, we all have needs. Right now, there are thousands of children and adults who need a descent meal without the risk of getting lung cancer in the process (due to smoke from the open cooking fires within the households).
My passions in life have been pretty simple since the fourth grade: Jesus, people (especially children) and Spanish. For years now, I have wanted to be a part of a mission trip (specifically to a Spanish-speaking nation). As a result of my ten-year commitment to summer track & field (which helped to open the door for me to attend my dream college of Stanford University), my dream to go on a mission trip had been put on hold: until this year!
On this mission trip to Guatemala in July 2014, we (the high school youth of World Harvest Church) will be helping to build houses and stoves (to provide a safer means of cooking). We will also be preaching the Gospel of Jesus to the children of Guatemala - feeding them both physically and spiritually.
Our ultimate goal is to provide better living conditions to the residents of Guatemala, and to create an open door for the Gospel in the process!
I feel so strongly led to go on this mission trip with World Harvest Church, and I would like to thank you in advance for your financial contribution and prayer to help make this vision real!
Yours in Christ,
Amber K. Lewis
