help me help others

Hi everyone,
My names Genevieve Matamoros, and I am 20 years old and currently a full time pre nursing student at cmu!


Since the very young age of 9 I have been fascinated with other cultures and travel(10countries under my belt) but within that fascination came a passion that i now will forever carry with me into everyday life and my soon to be career. That passion being to nurture and help those who need the help. I have been to 10 countries and in each have been blessed to stay with local families as well as do some sort of project that helped their communities and left a lifelong effect. I have dug wells, built houses, given classes on simple health as well as helped raise money for cancer patients and their treatments. Here in the states I have helped with hundreds hours of philantropy at soup kitchens, small volunteer events as well as worked in hospitals without any pay.


The reason I am asking for help today is due to my next project this coming summer. I was offered an internship in Guadalajara Mexico for a month. On July7th 2014 I will be embarking on an internship of a lifetime if funds are met. I will be providing care, assisting local medical staff, and donating time and experience in remote outreach clinics in rural hospitals throughout Guadalajara, Mexico. In addition to approximately 300 hours of donated time, I was hoping to be purchasing/donating about $500 in an assortment of thermometers, stethoscopes, blood pressure cuffs, glucometers, and much more, to help make these hospitals become more accurate and confident on its own.

The cost of being hosted as well as food, transportation and what the program asks for throughout my stay is a $3,500 cost. yet the amount of people i know i can help, and the amounts of knowledge i am capable of gaining becomes priceless when you put it in perspective. if helped i would be more than happy while on my trip to send news emails with info pictures and updates of my progress with learning as well as the cultural expiriences. thank you for taking your time to read this.
