Grove Park's Aquaponics System
Grove Park Intermediate School and Rising Above Poverty Farms, and the Georgia Institute of Technology are teaming up to build a commercial scale aquaponics facility to feed the school and the surrounding community which will serve as a model for Atlanta and beyond. The system will be built at Grove Park Intermediate School. Rising Above Poverty Farms, a group of military veterans, will help construct and operate the system with the long term goal of building systems elsewhere to employ homeless veterans and to feed those who can't currently afford healthy food. The goal of Georgia Tech is to improve the efficiency of the system in terms of water, energy, and materials so it can be affordable. We have some funds to get started, but we need funds for labor and first year operating costs. We invite everyone to spread the word and donate and we will offer blueprints and the know-how to empower others to build their own systems. We are partnering with all the major commercial-scale, aquaponic growers in the United States, so we think we are off to something very good for Atlanta and the World.
