Greyson's Fight with Leukaemia
I’ve had the pleasure to work with Brendan for a couple years now and he has been an exceptional employee and always brings a smile to the desk. When I heard and read about his little boy Greyson being diagnosed with leukemia, my heart sank and I couldn’t imagine how I would feel being in his shoes. Brendan has been very strong and continues to light up my service department despite his situation. Speaking to him , you would never guess his family was going through such a stressful time.
In Greyson's short life, he has already faced a number of challenges, including surgery at only two days old. Within the last year alone he has been consistently in and out of the hospital. Brendan had mentioned to me that Greyson had to go to the doctors for some white blood cell tests. He then explained that Greyson had been diagnosed with a condition called aplastic anemia, but later they were informed that Greyson has a type of Leukemia that can disguise itself as this aplastic anemia. Kelly, Brendan's second half has been driving wee Greyson all around the city for his medical appointments and scheduled hospital visits. They are giving Greyson Cyclosporine medication which is a immunosuppressive. This medication is not covered on any insurance, so they need to pay for this out of there on pockets. Greyson is lined up for some more appointments next week (last week of October). They will find out where things lead to from here. Doctors have given estimations of treatment plans that could continue for years from now.
Because of this Kelly is unable to work, which makes Brendan the sole provider for their family.
So I reached out to all my family at Winnipeg Kia and asked us to hold hands and join in to help Brendan and Kelly to help with anything we can to assist in Greyson’s fight. Along with our family, we are kindly asking if anyone else could lend a helping hand during these incredibly stressful times.
If you could help in anyway possible by donating to this good cause, any bit would help them out greatly. This is a family that would give the shirts off their backs to help someone out. Let’s do the same for them!
God bless!
