September 13th would have been Greg's 50th birthday. If he were with us now, I'm sure he would have found a way to sneak away for a round of golf with his friends and family. For the past two years, the kids and I have celebrated Greg's birthday with a day of gratitude. This year we want to celebrate Greg's Gratitude Day with the Center for Grieving Children .
Every Thursday for the better part of two years, our family has attended the Center for Greiving Children in Portland, a FREE service for families experiencing the truamatic loss of a loved one. We have felt safe, understood, and supported at the Center, especially in the darkest of days. This resource, coupled with the love of friends like you, is the reason that we're standing strong and resilient today.
To celebrate his memory, Greg's family, colleagues, and friends are sponsoring two "Team Greg Collins" foursomes in the annual Swing "Fore" the Center Paul Gray Memorial Golf Tournament on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Purpoodock Club, in Cape Elizabeth. These 8 golfers have paid $300 each (a total of $2,400) in celebration and gratitude for the memories we have of Greg.
Please consider helping us match their donation fees to sponsor a third team. Any contribution you make will directly support other greiving families facing traumatic loss.
Wherever you are on September 13, we hope you'll pause for a heartbeat or two to be grateful, to hug someone you love, and to remember the way Greg lived:
