<div>Dies ist ein einzigartiges Projekt, da zum ersten Mal die Geschichte der Deutschen aus dem Russischen Reich in einem Graphic Novel-Format erzählt wird.

<div>Wir haben jetzt ca. 180 Seiten fertiger Bleistiftzeichnungen. Und dies ist der letzte Anstoß, Geld zu sammeln, um das Buch farbig zu machen. Siehe die Beispiele oben.

<div><em>Möge das Welt dein Zuhause sein!</em> ist eine Graphic Novel über die Geschichte meiner Familie und auch die Geschichte einer deutschen Minderheit, die seit dem 18. Jahrhundert im Russischen Reich und später in der Sowjetunion lebte.

<div>Erzählt wird die Geschichte aus der Perspektive einer jungen Frau, Lena, die in London lebt und eine Deutsche aus Kasachstan ist. Als Lena versucht, ihre eigene Identität und die Gründe, warum sie in Kasachstan aufgewachsen ist, zu verstehen, stellt sie fest, dass sie in der Zeit zurückreisen muss. Und so wechselt das Buch zwischen dem heutigen London und Geschichten aus dem Leben ihrer Großmutter Emilia, die in einem deutschsprachigen Dorf in der Ukraine aufwuchs und 1941 nach Kasachstan deportiert wurde.

<div>Durch Lena’s Großmutter erfahren wir mehr über Stalin's Deportationen verschiedener Volksgruppen, die Zwangsarbeitslager in Kasachstan, die Sondersiedlungen für Menschen ohne Rechte und die harten Bedingungen der Gulags in Workuta.

<div>Diese Graphic Novel handelt von der Suche nach Identität und der Aufarbeitung des Erbes einer schwierigen Vergangenheit.
</div>

<div>Die Erstellung dieses Buches wurde durch das reale Ereignis inspiriert, als ich zu einem Kongress der amerikanischen Deutschen aus Russland in Rapid City, USA als Sprecher eingeladen wurde. Diese Reise nach Rapid City hat mir den Anstoss gegeben, das Buch zu schreiben.

<div><em>May The Universe Be Your Home!</em> is a graphic novel about my family’s story and also the history of a German minority that lived in the Russian Empire since the 18th century, which later became the Soviet Union.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The story is told from the perspective of a young woman, Lena, who lives in London and is a German from Kazakhstan. As Lena tries to understand her own identity and the reasons why she grew up in Kazakhstan, she finds that she has to go back in time. And so the book alternates between today's London and stories from the life of her grandmother Emilia, who grew up in a German-speaking village in Ukraine and was deported to Kazakhstan in 1941.

<div>Through Lena's grandmother, we learn more about Stalin's deportations of different ethnic groups, the forced labour camps in Kazakhstan, the special settlements for people without rights and the harsh conditions of Gulags in Vorkuta.
</div>

<div>The graphic novel is about the search for identity and how to come to terms with the inheritance of a difficult past.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The creation of this book was inspired by the real-life event of speaking at an American Germans from Russia convention in Rapid City, USA.
</div>

</div>
<div>The team currently working on the book is also international, I’m in the UK, the illustrator in Germany and the colourist in Spain.
</div>

<div>We expect the graphic novel to be published at the end of the year.
