Dominican Republic Mission June 14-21

Wow, this is humbling. I've never been the type to ask for much help, financially or otherwise, but realize I cannot accomplish this on my own..

Ten months ago I acknowledged that an emptiness I felt within could only be filled by deepening my faith, and surrendering my heart to Christ. I have been a believer my entire life, but I was one of many uncertain of what being a 'Christian' means. It wasn't until I commited to a church in May of last year that I began to understand what we are called to do, and The Holy Spirit has been working in all aspects of my life since.

Missions trips were often mentioned during church and fellowship, and I would allow the idea of one to dance around in my head for a few minutes before dismissing it: likely due to finances or work. But the calling has only become stronger with each passing month, and the message is now so loud that I simply can no longer ignore.

Today in church they mentioned an upcoming missions trip to the Dominican Republic in June. It already had my attention, but the more information provided the more I could not deny that this was speaking directly to me. You see (pun intended), I have worked for a Christian ophthalmology practice for a year and a half, and this missions trip is to provide eye exams and glasses to children with poor vision, as well as building housing and a church.  As if this hadn't spoken loud and clear already, the doctor I work for is on vacation the entire week of this trip. How awesome is our God?!

I am certain that God has placed this in front of me, and this is what he is commanding me to do. So I am asking you for your help. I have faith that God will provide, and I pray that one of those outlets could be you. The cost of the trip is $1650, which covers airfare, lodging, meals, and interpreters. Other costs to be considered are preliminary doctor's visits, vaccinations, passport, and other miscellaneous expenses.

If you cannot help financially, please feel free to share with others or give me guidance or wisdom. I am also in need of prayer. Prayer that he will provide the means to make this trip possible, safe travels, good health, courage and wisdom to work for His glory.
