Gomez Recovery & Financial Need

Donation protected
We flew to Boston on July 29th for our Grandson 1st birthday thanks to our eldest Son. The next day on July 30th my husband experienced a minor heart attack. At the time we didn't know he had any heart problems.  It came as a shock to him and our family. After being admitted to the hospital a Cardiac Catheterization was performed to see what was the problem with his heart.  This was a frightening moment for me and my son Erik.  We have never faced something this serious before in our immediate family.   They found that he had 3 to 4 arteries blocked so they weren't able to correct the problem at that hospital.  At that point they needed to transfer him to Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston to meet Surgeon and have Bypass Heart Surgery.

Before this occurred we've been going through a very difficult season financially.  My husband has been under a lot of stress looking for work since he was laid off in mid 2016. He only had a 10 month temporary contract after the lay off.  Since then he's been looking daily, revising his resume for positions he finds and talking to recruiters. There have been hopeful moments but then nothing happens.  The only reason we can assume he hasn't been called is being overqualified and being close to retirement age.   He has always been the main provider in our family.  He worked for 30 years as a Mechanical Engineer. When we started a family we decided that it was best for me to be home with the kids especially after having twins. I worked as a part time Secretary and other times in Sales when kids started school. Since then I've been involved in Independent Sales of Skin Care when my health permits. We've used up all our Savings since his lay off.   With the help of close family and our adult children we have been able to make it this far.

On August 2nd the Doctors did the Bypass Surgery and 4 Grafts were done. It was a major surgery.  Recovery has been slow but we are thankful surgery went well. It will take some time to heal, he will need physical therapy and a visiting nurse. It has been very difficult since our home and two of our kids are in Florida. We also miss our dog "Teddy" who is very close with Danny.   We are thankful that our children found a way to travel to Boston to see him after surgery.

I am asking for your help to get us through this tough season in our lives. We will have some medical bills that are not covered by our insurance, we need to pay for living expenses and our home mortgage. We have no idea when he will be able to go back home or when he will be able to work. We are staying with family and we are so grateful! He will have a followup with Surgeon at the end of this month. We are hoping that Danny will be allowed to fly back home after he is seen by surgeon. I appreciate any contribution you can make during this difficult time in our lives. I will update you on Danny's condition during his recovery.

I thank God for the love and support that we've receive from those near and far during this hard time. Thank you for your prayers, support and donations! I trust that God will make a way for us even when it seems like there is no way.  In the darkest of times he has never failed us!   God Bless you with Health for each day!
