As a Scale Modeller and while stuck in the house during lock down I developed a new community initiative for the the Scale Model Hobby sector.
As a result of Covid 19 the scale hobby industry saw a huge uptick of people finding the hobby for the first time or returning after many years.
For the first time the scale modelling community was given the opportunity to nominate and vote online for their favourite new kit releases of 2020 along with those products that help transform those kits into masterpieces.
Simply put "The Modellers Awards"
The event gives scale modellers the opportunity to connect with brands they love whilst also providing an opportunity to discover new products.
Having launched the first Golden Sprue Awards in August 2020 the event truly captured the imagination of the hobby community with almost 100k visitors to the event website and 40k votes cast across nine award categories from scale modellers in over 80 countries from August to October.
Now that this years event is nearing the finale it is now time to build upon the success of the first event and develop the project to become one of the most important events in the calendar. An annual celebration of our wonderful hobby.
In building the concept and through to delivery took many hundreds of hours with a steep learning curve to develop the website while seeking both industry and community support for the event.
At its core the event is structured to be completely impartial and free for hobby participants.
In looking forward to build the event for 2021 this small investment is required to be able to build upon the success of this years event and will be used to support the hosting and marketing costs.
Thank you very much for taking an interest in this project and with your support work will begin in building the 2021 event to be bigger and better.
