Help G.O.A.L.S. Build The Dream

Donation protected
5 years ago, Ginny Peiser with a small group of parents and their teens, started The Girls Organization of Athletics, Leaders in Sports or G.O.A.L.S. Athletic League. It is a not for profit fast-pitch softball league whose mission is to give the under served girls of Queens an opportunity to compete for college scholarship dollars using softball as a vehicle. In order to provide this opportunity we had to get the young girls off concrete and on to dirt fields, give them qualified coaches, teach many girls how to pitch windmill along with basic fundamentals of fast-pitch softball. This league is the 1st of its kind here in NYC. We started with 3 players and now boast over 165 girls from the ages of 5 to 17 who compete either in our spring league or on our College Bound High School Program in the summer and fall. We have so far sent 7 girls onto college teams receiving both softball and academic scholarships.
Now, we are in the process of taking this organization to the next level and to reach a new goal in our mission statement, which is to provide an indoor facility so our members can achieve the skills needed and provide them with a year round learning opportunity.
Through the efforts of many volunteers we are in the process of renovating a rented warehouse space into 2 pitching cages/tunnels and a batting cage as well as needed office space and a tutoring and homework area for our members.
This facility will take much funding to provide the needed space and equipment such as cage netting, astro-turf, pitching machines, hitting tees, balls and to provide free lessons from professional instructors to all players unable to afford this type of instruction. The largest problem for NYC girls to compete for scholarships with players from warm states is our weather and the lack of affordable indoor facilities and training. The G.O.A.L.S. Training Center will fill this gap and over time will produce young girls ready to compete for these valuable scholarships.
This is why we started the G.O.A.L.S. Build a Dream Initiative and hope you will donate so that every girl no matter their income, their race, nationality, creed, sexual orientation or skill level can learn in a safe indoor environment and receive the tools they will need to play and compete in softball and in life.
