Go Ashley Anne Go!!

January 2, 2013, Ashley Anne was admitted to Palmetto Children's Hospital and she has been fighting the biggest battle of her life for over a year. Ashley caught a resistant bacteria called Mycobacterial Absessus. Ashley Anne has Cystic Fibrosis, and her compromised immune system has struggled time and time again with this bug.

As this battle continues, her medical bills are becoming a challenge for our "single mom" family.

We have created this site in response to the many caring people who have offered to help with the many expenses the family is incurring as a result of this diagnosis...from expensive pharmaceuticals to medical bills.  

There are also significant travel expenses as Ashley Anne has been going to UNC Chapel Hill to get extra eyes in the hope of diagnosing the secondary problem that has caused tremendous inflamation.  This inflamation has caused severe dibilitating joint pain, hair loss, and chest pains.  There are mornings that she is unable to get out of bed, and her mom has to carry her to a warm shower that warms her joint so that she can move with less pain.

We are still looking for a full diagnosis.  We are not looking just to label the scary monster that is making Ashley Anne's life misery, we are looking to learn what switched it on so that she may be able to avoid this suffering in the future.  Many specialists later - this is still officially considered idiopathic.

We are over a year into the battle, it has been long, expensive, and exhausting for the family. While she is covered by private insurance, that doesn't not really protect a family when the battle is this big. This fight has consumed our savings and left us in a tough place as we make plans for the next steps. We would not have made it this far without the love and support we have received, but we still have a long way to go . . .

PLEASE PRAY that she will be encouraged and continue to battle hard.
She would love to see a day that she is normal again.
She is a senior in high school and wants to be doing what every senior in high school is doing . . . not sleeping all day, hooking up Iv lines and hoping her liver and kidneys are going to be ok.
