THANK YOU!

For those of you who received my support letter last year - thank you. I am beyond grateful for your prayers and support. The two months I spent traveling the United States being trained in leadership and ministry and serving the children of God - from the homeless to Muslims - were life-changing to say the least. I cannot express the magnitude of my appreciation for your unending support.

MOVING FORWARD

As you may already know, my boyfriend of four years, Ben Schulte, proposed in January and I joyfully accepted. We are currently in the process of planning a wedding for May of 2015. Ben just finished his junior year at Lindenwood University and is pursuing a degree in Christian ministry studies while minoring in religion. I attend Maryville University and just completed my sophomore year as a nursing student. For the past three years God has given us a vision to one day go into full-time overseas missions. This summer we have made it a priority to go on an international mission trip together to get an idea of what long-term mission work might look like for us.

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

We have been blessed with the amazing opportunity to spend three weeks (June 25th - July 16th) in the Dominican Republic this summer with an organization called Happiness Now.

We will spend one week serving in two orphanages near each other - one of which is a refuge for all disabled children. Another week we will be spending time in a Haitian village of refugees who were uprooted after the earthquake. They have no running water, electricity, or basic sanitation. We will be working with the pastor of the community and his wife, who is a nurse, to help set up a clinic for the people of this village. The last week we will be teaming up with members of BreakDown St. Louis, an organization Ben and I have been involved with for the past four years, and will be putting on a prom and graduation for teens who otherwise would receive no celebration for their great accomplishment of completing high school.

The combined cost of this trip is $5100 (this price includes flights, food, transportation, and housing for the both of us). We would greatly appreciate any financial support you are able to give. "Little is much when God is in it!" Secondly, we ask that you join us in prayer as we raise support and serve in the Dominican Republic.

Although we do not have the ability to fund the trip on our own, we trust that God will direct those who desire to invest in our lives to do so this year. Please keep us in your prayers as we are focusing on today and preparing for tomorrow. We are confident that all of the details will fall into place, because we feel that this trip will be a launching pad for our future. Thank you so much (in advance) for any support you're able to give. We truly appreciate your investment in our lives.

[While in Los Angeles last summer, we spent a night in the homeless shelter on Skid Row and helped put on a movie night for the children of homeless families. This is one of my buddies I made that night.]

[In 2012, Ben spent a week in Guatemala serving at a safe home for children. During the day the men helped build a bamboo fence around the property and in the evening played soccer and spent time with the children.]
