Gledholt Male Voice Choir
Donation protected
Gledholt Male Voice Choir Huddersfield, is an all inclusive group of men singing together for the love of music. Before the Covid Pandemic we met and rehearsed every Tuesday, enjoyed a busy concert schedule. We also enjoyed a regular busking schedule in order to raise funds for the choir, including a fun and often busy Christmas Carol singing schedule.
Perhaps closest to everybody's hearts though were the concerts we gave in local Care Homes. All the men thoroughly enjoyed the chance to bring the joy of music to those unable to come and hear us live. The enthusiastic welcome we received from residents and staff alike showed us that we were making a real difference within the community.
With the current restrictions we cannot raise revenue from our usual sources such as ticket sales, or bucket donations from our busking or Carol-Singing, yet our costs continue. Every member pays a membership fee, yet we still need to pay our professionals.
We have adapted to life under lockdown by holding regular rehearsals on Zoom, and recorded a large number of songs and carols at home, each member recording his part and sending the files in for mixing into the finished choir track. This has meant the added expense of recording and mixing software and licence fees, but I'm sure after watching our Christmas Concert online you will agree this has been money well spent.
We are putting together a series of virtual concerts that can be shown at our audiences in Care Homes so that our links with them can be kept and strengthened.
The continuation of rehearsing and performing has been of enormous benefit to all the choir members and professionals, turning what could have been a bleak and lonely period into one filled with a precious fellowship and camaraderie.
Your donations will help to keep this group singing and learning, entertaining and diverting for as long as the restrictions last, and hopefully well into a much brighter future.
We are all very grateful for any donations received to our registered charity.
