Pete Steinhoff - eSight Glasses

Donation protected
As a child it’s not very often that you get an opportunity to do something amazing for one of your parents. Well, we are lucky enough to have that opportunity. Anyone who knows our dad, Pete, is aware he's the first person to drop everything for anyone but doesn’t want anyone making a fuss over him. Unfortunately for him, we didn’t give him much of a choice this time.

Most of you are aware that our dad, Pete, has an eye condition that will eventually make it very difficult for him to see anything at all. We were fortunate enough to be invited to Minneapolis, by a company called eSight, so dad could try their revolutionary glasses. Although he has not lost his vision, it has changed. If these glasses worked, they could definitely change his life for the better.

We made the appointment in Minneapolis and in true Midwestern form, the weather showed the Twin Cities were going to get hit with a blizzard. After what seemed like a million phone calls, emails and text messages about whether or not we should still go, we decided this was worth going, and we were not going to let a little snow storm stop us. I’m glad we braved the storm because when he put the glasses on he was able to read things he had no read in years.  He looked across the room and read a tiny sign that indicated the occupancy of the room we were in. The lady also had him read us a page of “dad jokes.” We were so stunned that he was actually reading fine print, that we forgot to laugh! He did remind us that we were SUPPOSED to laugh.

These glasses are nothing short of amazing! Unfortunately, so is the price tag. The starting price is $10,000. Yes, you’re reading that correctly. $10,000. This is exactly why our dad said he didn’t want the glasses, “They’re too expensive!” He’s absolutely correct, they are expensive, but you can’t put a price on the way they would change his life for the better.

This is where all of you come in. We set up this page so we could gift these glasses to our dad. He’s certainly not the only good person in the world, but he’s one of the most amazing people we know, and he certainly deserves these glasses. He’s done so many good things for so many people and many of you have asked us, how can we help?

1)      If you'd like, you can donate directly via page site.

2)      If you’re unable to donate, please share his story and the link.

Our goal is to raise enough to completely cover the cost of the glasses. If there are extra funds we will be donating a portion back to eSight to help another person afford their own set of glasses.

We want to thank everyone for taking the time to visit the page, read the story, and if you donate,

THANK YOU!!!!!

We will keep you all updated as we can!

Love,

Shelly, Heidi, and Tony
