Giving Autism a Voice

Donation protected
I am personally raising money to fund buying communication devices for non-verbal autistic kids in the local school district. In the year 2000, 1 in 250 kids were diganosed with autism; today 1 in 68. Half of these kids are verbal and high-functioning. The other half are non-verbal and really need our help. Recently, it has been discovered that many of these kids can use technology to communicate.

My daughter has been emerging as one of these kids. She is non-verbal. She is being trained to use an iPad to communicate. Wouldn't it be amazing someday to know how she feels, what she needs, if she's hungry, to let us know she is sick? She currently can't communicate any of these needs to us.

Our local school district can provide a tax receipt for any type of donation, a device or monetary. iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, mini iPad, Droids, anything "smart." As long as it can hold a charge, they can use it. Cracked screens ok. Also looking for cases, chargers, iTunes cards, etc.

You can also contact me privately if you would like an official flyer or if you would like to speak to someone in the school district.

I have tapped everyone I know for devices so I am now looking for monetary donations to buy the devices myself. Can you help? Remember, your donation is tax-deductible, but to know that you have given a child a voice is priceless!
